All of our Jr. players have a very good attitude towards their practices, peers, and coaches. However, this last year, Alex Budd and Robby Smithline showed exceptional qualities. These two players are not only very respectful and hard working but, they also have the ability to adapt to any situation and they continue to have productive practices.

JUNE 2010 PLAYER OF THE MONTH.... ALEX JOHNSON

1. Who is your favorite player? Roger Federer
2. What do you like best about his/her game? He never gives up
3. If you could win any grand slam which would it be and why? Anyone would be good
4. What other sports do you play? Soccer, golf & basketball
5. What else do you like to do in your spare time? Draw and play outside
6. Tell us something about yourself that we don’t know: I like to fish
7. Have you recently played in any tournaments? If so, what did or didn’t you like about it? Yes, I think I got nervous and that’s why I lost.

MAY 2010 PLAYER OF THE MONTH...GEORGIA RYAN

1.    Who is your favorite tennis player? Venus Williams

2.    What do you like best about your favorite player’s game? Because she moves will, and I like how much power she has when she hits the ball.

3.    If you could win any grand slam which would it be and why? The US Open because it’s close by and my whole family could be there.

4.    What other sports do you play (baseball, football, soccer)? I play lacrosse, I swim and I play basketball.

5.    What else do you like to do in your spare time? I like to play with my brothers and sister, I like to write and play outside.

6.    Tell us something about yourself that we do not know: I have an English bulldog named Teddy.  I have 4 brothers and a sister and I lived in Australia for 3 ½ years.

7.     Have you recently played in any tournaments? If so what did or didn’t you like about it?

Yes, I like tournaments.  I like tournaments because they are fun whether you win or lose.

APRIL 2010 PLAYER OF THE MONTH.....AKSHAY KINI

1. Who is your favorite player? Federer
2. What do you like best about his game? Solid forehand approach shots and service consistancy.
3. If you could win any Grand Slam which would it be and why? US Open - I love hard court the most and the New York enviroment/weather amplifies the experience.
4. What other sports do you play? None (one or nothing)
5. What else do you liek to do in your spare time? Read, study, go out with friends, family, movies.
6. Tell us something non tennis related about yourself:  I was born in the UK; I want to be an engineer/research scientist of some sort.
7. Have you recently played in any tournaments? If so what did or didn't you like about it? Yes (quite a lot).  I liked that I won my last Level 1 up in NJ, which can be attributed mainly to my serves.

 MARCH 2010 PLAYER OF THE MONTH........ FAZL SHAIKH

1. Who is your favorite player?  My favorite player is Roger Federer
2. What do you like best about your favorite player?    I like his forehand and serve.  I think he is consistent on the court and humble off the court!
3. If you could win any Grand Slam which would it be and why?  I would love to win the US Open, because it is my home country.
4. What other sports do you play?  I play soccer at the New York Soccer Club and basketball in the Westchester Impact team.
5.  What else to you like to do in your spare time?  I do my homework, listen to music and watch television (fox soccer channel, ESPN and cartoons)
6. Tell us something about yourself that we do not know:  My favorite subjects are math and geography; I know all the capitals in the world and I have traveled to France, Italy, England, Amsterdam, Canada, Mexico, Hong Kong and Pakistan.
7. Have you recently played in any tournaments?  If so, what did or didn't you like about it?  I have been playing in tournaments for about a year.   I played in a U-12 Level 2 and 3 tournaments in February this year.  I won my Level 3 tournament and in my Level 2 tournament I went to the 2nd round and played the number 2 seeded player but lost.  I love competition in everything I do and I plan to play more tournaments. 

Congratulations to Lucas Biondi for being our player of the month for February.  Lucas has only being playing  tournaments since last August in the Eastern Boys 10 singles and in 4 months he reached his Eastern Sectional Rank of 16.  Again congratulations to Lucas!  Here is our quick interview with Lucas:

1. Who is your favorite tennis player? John McEnroe
2. What do you like best about your favorite player's game? I love John's competitiveness and his fight to the end of each match.  Attitude. He does not give up.
3. If you could win any grand slam, which would it be and why? Of course, the US Open.  I enjoy the hard court surface and would like the support of the New York crowd.
4. What other sports do you play? I play golf and was also the pitcher of my little league team and play ping pong every night!
5. What else do you like to do in your spare time? I enjoy swimming and going to the beach, also traveling to different islands.
6. Tell us something about yourself that we do not know:  Most people do not know that I am equally as competitive in the classroom and work hard to get top grades in all my subjects.  It is important to do both well.
7. Have you recently played in any tournaments? If so, what did or didn't you like about it?  Yes, I enjoy playing highly ranked players and seeing success when I sometimes do not expect to win.  I don't like losing, but dislike it even more when I make errors that sometimes have cost me the match.

JANUARY 2010 --- JOSHUA WOOD

Congratulations to Josh for being awarded the January player of the month.  Joshua has been playing tennis for as long as he can remember and will be turning 11 this May.  He's been competing in tournaments for the past couple of years and finally had his break through win here at ProformTennis in the 10/U boys championships held on the 3rd January.  Being a left hander himself, his tennis idol is Rafael Nadal and one day hopes to compete at Wimbledon.  Everyone here at Proform congratulates you on your terrific attitude and work ethic.  Well done Joshua
